Our story

From “Fine.” to a real conversation

In the everyday rush of nursery, school and work, we often forget the simplest yet most important thing: talking to each other. Days fly by and conversations shrink to “How was school? Fine.”

That is why we made these conversation cards. To get the conversation flowing. To get to know our children more deeply. To laugh together. To be close not only physically, but emotionally too.

Answering questions becomes a game you will look forward to every day.

  1. Game:

    Every day

Use the cards every day — as a small ritual, a game after dinner or a quiet moment before bed.

    1. Pick one topic, or shuffle all the cards together.
    2. Each player draws one question and answers it.
    3. Ask follow-up questions to go a little deeper.
  2. Game:

    One question for all

See how differently we can see the same thing.

    1. Each player draws one card.
    2. Then everyone takes turns answering the same question.
    3. Notice how varied the answers are and talk about them.
  3. Game:

    Choose a mission

Adds surprise and choice. Made for longer games.

    1. A player draws 4 cards.
    2. They choose 1 question for themselves, 1 for someone else, 1 for the whole group, and discard 1.
    3. The next player continues the same way.
  4. Game:

    Deal the cards

One player becomes the dealer for a while.

    1. Players choose a dealer, who draws as many cards as there are players.
    2. The dealer keeps one card and hands out the rest.
    3. Everyone answers their card. Others may ask follow-up questions.
  5. Game:

    Swap or together

Great for more sensitive children, introverts, or the Hidden corners category.

    1. Swap: discard the question and choose another one.
    2. Together: answer the question with someone you choose.

FAQ

What parents ask

What age are the cards for?

For children from 4 years old and their parents, grandparents and older siblings. An adult reads the question to younger children; school kids can read the capital letters on their own.

How many people can play?

2 to 8 players. It works just as well with one parent and one child — over dinner or at bedtime.

How long does a game take?

As long as you like. One card a day as a little ritual is enough, or play one of the five game variants for a whole afternoon.

What if my child doesn’t want to answer?

That’s fine — there are no wrong answers in this game. In “Swap or together” a child can swap the question or answer it together with someone they choose.

Why are the cards in capital letters only?

Children learn to read capital letters first, so the cards support independent reading even for pre-schoolers. The typeface is also suitable for readers with dyslexia.

Are the cards a therapy tool?

No. The cards are not intended as a therapeutic tool. They are questions for the joy of talking together and getting to know each other better.

How durable are the cards?

The cards are sturdy card stock laminated on both sides. The box is 3D printed, because paper boxes are the first thing to fall apart — and it doubles as a card dispenser.
